Prayer for Adat Eytz Chayim
Counting the Omer / ספירת העמר
2011/ 5771

“From the day after the day of rest – that is, from the day you bring the sheaf for waving – you are to count seven full weeks, until the day after the seventh week; you are to count fifty days; and then you are to present a new grain offering to ADONAI.”

וספרתם לכם ממחרת השבת מיום הביאכם את־עמר התנופה שבע שבתות תמימת תהיינה׃
עד ממחרת השבת השביעת תספרו חמשים יום והקרבתם מנחה חדשה ליהוה׃

Leviticus (Vayikra) 23:15-16

The count of days between Pesach and Shavuot is a time of great spiritual anticipation. During this season, our forefathers awaited the gift of Torah at Mt.Sinai after their departure from Egypt. During the same season, the talmidim of Yeshua awaited the gift of the Ruach HaKodesh after His resurrection. Now let us anticipate a fresh visitation of HaShem upon the Tree of Life (T.O.L.).

Count the Omer each evening, beginning as is traditional on the second night of Passover saying:

"Baruch atah adonai elohenu, melech ha-olam, asher kid’shanu b’mitzvotav vitzivanu al sefirat ha-omer.
Blessed areYou O L-rd our G-d, King of the Universe, Who has sanctified us by His commandments and commanded us concerning the count of the Omer."

After reciting this blessing each evening, please recite the count of the Omer and the specific praise, petition, or thanksgiving listed in this guide, through 49 days of unified prayer that will have a great impact on our congregation! Baruch HaShem!
